Day 3 - Chicago to Springfield - 201 miles

Getting ready to collect the car and start the journey, plans made, maps arranged but main thought is "who's idea was this" πŸ˜‚

Arrived at the car hire and asked the guy if the car had sat nav, "no" he said " only the luxury and sports vehicles". I said " ok I will just use my phone then". He pointed us downstairs to pick up the car where a lady said we could pick which one we wanted !

Jeep Wrangler

Ford Cherokee

Mercedes GLB 250

Obviously being in the USA we chose the Merc πŸ™„

The car has everything including sat nav, that said it took me 5 minutes to find how to put it in gear and no idea how the sat nav works πŸ˜‚

Off we set and my initial fears were unfounded as we found the start and confidently drove on. All was well until we had to turn left and we missed the first turn. Now the good old USA make it easy as they are all in grids so soon back on track.

Finished the day in Springfield, birthplace and tomb of Abraham Lincoln, bit of an odd place but friendly people. Hotel bar for dinner and drinks after visit to local brewery with pineapple and cherry ciders. Looking forward to tomorrows trip to St Louis.
