Day 4 - Springfield to St Louis - 100 miles

An eventful day, it started out so well with breakfast at the Cozy Dog drive in, food was good and place full of Route 66 memorabilia,

We took the original route to see the part which was laid with bricks

It was only 100 miles to St Louis but with lots of detours to keep on the old road it was taking a while. Went through some nice towns that were on the original route that had survived when they built the new interstate.

Had a nice easy drive then arrived at the hotel to check in when we realised we had left the passports, travel docs and cash at the hotel in Springfield. We had made sure they were safe and that's where they still were, locked in the safe. We called the hotel and spoke with Roland at security who went to the room and collected the lost items. Meanwhile we were now flying back up the interstates to collect.

Overall it added 3 hours to our travelling time today but alls well that ends well ๐Ÿ™„ Phew

Todays song - "Long and winding road" (but it was nearly - "Tragedy")

Finally got to St Louis, went to the arch and all tickets sold today ......... phew ๐Ÿ˜ณ, I would have done but at over 600 ft high I was not looking forward to it. Still an amazing construction though.

Ate in Hooters, it's got to be done, wrong sauce on the chicken and lost all feeling in mouth for half an hour. The Stella Artois "big dad" definitely helped ๐Ÿบ

Finished with Rum and cokes in an Irish bar, again, it has to be done ๐Ÿ˜œ
