Day 8 - Amarillo to Santa Fe - 290 miles

Left Texas for New Mexico today but not before visiting the Cadillac Ranch. Several cars implanted into the ground where you are encouraged to do your own artwork. Rain in the night meant the only one you could get near was the first so several people all trying to tag it. We waited and left a stag and COYS on there, I bet no one's ever tagged Mansfield Town on there before.

Also passed midpoint of Route 66 today in a very little town called Adrian.

Still very straight roads here but the scenery has definitely changed from Texas. Some of the hills are that high they are snow capped.

Arrived in Santa Fe earlier than expected as we had forgotten about the clock going back an hour due to a change in the time zone to mountain time. Santa Fe is easily the most picturesque place we have visited so far. The hotel is stunning and the downtown area is full of art galleries and expensive shops but thankfully lots of restaurants and bars. We had some time to kill and Net noticed a nice wine bar, it would have been rude to just walk past.

They also have a restaurant named after our own little bar, may have to try this later.
